Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026

Welcome to Jade Compass. By booking a journey with us, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before confirming your booking.

1. About Us Jade Compass is a UK-based travel design company specialising in private, tailor-made journeys to China for groups of 2–10 travellers. We act as a travel organiser, designing itineraries and arranging local services (guides, drivers, hotels, transport, activities) through trusted local partners. Contact: info@jade-compass.com · Tel: 0044 020 39515580

2. Our Services
2.1 All our journeys are private — designed exclusively for you and your party. You will never be joined by travellers outside your group.
2.2 Every itinerary is tailor-made. Sample itineraries shown on our website are starting points; final routes, hotels and activities are agreed with you before booking.
2.3 Our standard prices are land-only (accommodation, private guide and driver, inter-city transport, activities and transfers within China). International flights are not included unless expressly stated in your quote. We are happy to assist with flight bookings separately.

3. Quotations and Prices
3.1 All quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of issue, unless stated otherwise.
3.2 Prices are quoted in GBP (£). We can invoice in EUR or USD on request.
3.3 Prices are based on the number of travellers and the services selected at the time of quotation. If your group size or itinerary changes after the quote, the price will be adjusted accordingly.
3.4 All prices include taxes and service charges. There are no hidden fees.

4. Booking and Deposit
4.1 To confirm your booking, a fixed deposit of £350 per booking is required. The balance is due 60 days before departure.
4.2 Bookings made less than 60 days before departure are payable in full at the time of confirmation.
4.3 We accept payment by major credit and debit cards, PayPal and bank transfer.
4.4 Your booking is confirmed once we have received your deposit (or full payment, if applicable) and sent you a written confirmation.

5. Cancellation by You If you cancel your journey, the following charges apply:

  • 60 days or more before departure: full refund of all payments

  • 30–59 days before departure: 50% of the total trip cost refunded

  • Less than 30 days before departure: the £350 deposit is non-refundable; any further payments made are not refundable

5.1 Cancellation must be made in writing (email or WhatsApp) to confirm the date of cancellation.
5.2 Where third-party suppliers (hotels, trains, activities) have their own non-refundable policies, we will pass on any non-recoverable costs; the refund amounts above are subject to such supplier charges.

6. Changes by You
6.1 You may request changes to your itinerary up to 30 days before departure at no charge, subject to availability and supplier terms.
6.2 Changes requested within 30 days of departure may incur supplier costs; we will confirm any such charge with you before applying it.

7. Changes or Cancellation by Us
.1 We plan every journey carefully, but in rare circumstances we may need to change hotels, transport or activities due to availability, weather or other circumstances beyond our control. We will always try to offer alternatives of equal or better standard.
7.2 In the unlikely event that we must cancel your journey entirely (for reasons within our control), you will receive a full refund of all payments made.
7.3 We are not liable for cancellations or changes caused by force majeure — including (but not limited to) natural disasters, travel restrictions, government action, epidemics, strikes or other events beyond our control.

8. Your Responsibilities
8.1 You are responsible for ensuring you hold a valid passport and any required visas or entry permissions for China. We provide guidance on current visa-free rules and can advise on visa applications, but the final responsibility for entry requirements rests with you.
8.2 We strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, cancellation and personal belongings.
8.3 You are responsible for arriving at agreed meeting points and departure times on schedule.

9. Travel Documents and Health
9.1 It is your responsibility to check that your travel documents are valid for the duration of your trip.
9.2 If you have any medical conditions, allergies or dietary requirements, you must inform us at the time of booking so we can make appropriate arrangements.

10. Liability
10.1 Jade Compass acts as organiser using reputable local partners. Our liability is limited to the total amount paid by you for your journey.
10.2 We are not liable for loss, damage or injury arising from events outside our reasonable control, or from your own actions or omissions.
10.3 Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

11. Insurance We do not sell travel insurance. We strongly recommend that all travellers take out comprehensive insurance at the time of booking.

12. Data Protection We use your personal information solely to arrange and administer your journey. We do not sell your data. By providing your details you consent to us processing them for the purpose of your booking.

13. Complaints If you have any concern during your journey, please contact us immediately (24/7 support number provided in your confirmation) so we can resolve it on the spot. If a resolution is not reached, please raise your complaint in writing within 28 days of returning from your journey.

14. Governing Law These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
